An Idea

My name is Cari Fukura. I am 27 years old and am married to Jason a very talented photographer and my best friend. We live in Bothell, WA, a suburb of Seattle and decided to make a commitment this year to join the Susan G Komen 3 Day walk taking place in our beautiful city in September. This is something we've both wanted to do in the past, but it wasn't until someone very near and dear to us entered this battle that we really had the push we needed to make the decision to go for it.

This blog is dedicated to our fundraiser that came from an idea while sitting and having coffee at the Lyon's Den. The idea: What if we made a calendar using Jason's talent as a photographer to tell the story of 16 dynamic and beautiful women who are not just surviving breast cancer but thriving? We want to do lifestyle portraits of these amazing women that really show them in all their glory, whether they're in the garden, singing in a choir, or starting a business when their friends are retiring, we want their stories to jump off the pages of the calendar and offer daily inspiration to everyone who looks at it.

If you'd like to submit someone to be in the calendar, we still have open spots!
